Dr. Gregory Whelan is Board Certified in Pediatric Dentistry. Prior to opening Pleasant Pediatric Dentistry, Colonel Whelan served for 21 years in the US Public Health Service, assigned to the Indian Health Service.
Dr. Whelan graduated from St. Louis University and received his dental degree from Southern Illinois University - School of Dental Medicine. He completed his Pediatric dental residency, as Chief Resident, at the University of Nebraska, Omaha. Dr. Whelan's passions include ensuring the provision of the highest quality pediatric dental care to his patients and assisting with the implementations of 'best practices' throughout his profession.
Dr. Whelan, his wife, and three children are happy to call Peoria home. Dr. Whelan enjoys spending his free time camping and hiking with his family.
Kendal - Office Manager
Kendal has been working in the dentistry field for over 12 years! She is the office manager at Pleasant Pediatric Dentistry, and absolutely loves being able to work with children every day.
Kendal takes care of all the paperwork in the office, and makes sure that everything is staying on schedule. She has expertise in financial services, as well as dealing with patient's insurance needs. She also has a certification in CPR, and is a lifeguard and swim instructor.
Kendal has been married to her husband, Mike, for 30 years and together they have a 5-year-old son. She loves spending time with her family and traveling to new destinations!
Heather - Dental Assistant
Heather joined our office in the autumn of 2010. She has been a pediatric dental assistant for 15 years, and is excellent. Heather is CPR certified and holds certification for coronal polishing as well as taking X-rays. She says she "enjoys my job and finds it very rewarding. Especially when a fearful child leaves the office with a smile on their face and anxious to return for their next appointment."
Heather is married and has 2 beautiful children, a son Carson, who 11 yrs old; and a daughter Miley, who is 4 yrs old.
Shae - Front Desk/Reception
Shae has been working in the dental field for approximately one year and has been with PPD since March 2014. She also has experience working with children in the daycare field.
She has experience working in the front office and as a treatment coordinator. She is skilled at verifying insurance, obtaining authorizations and answering questions that parents may have in regard to their childrens' dental care. She is CPR certified.
She enjoys greeting our young patients when they come for their appointments and is able to make them feel at ease during the check in process. Shae enjoys that patients and parents at Pleasant Pediatric Dentistry and enjoys working with all the other caring staff members in the office.
Shae has a young daughter who she enjoys spending time with. Shae enjoys outdoor activities such as hiking.
Amy - Dental Assistant
Amy is a graduate of Arizona College of Allied Health and has been happily working in the dental field for the past 4 years. Amy is certified in Coronal Polishing, Radiography and Infection Control Procedures along with her CPR certification.
Amy enjoys working at Pleasant Pediatric Dentistry as she has always enjoyed working with children. She holds an associate degree in Early Childhood Education. At Pleasant Pediatric Dentistry she enjoys educating children and parents of good oral health and hygiene techniques. Amy has four children of her own and loves spending time traveling with them and her husband.
Brittany - Dental Assistant
Brittany is a graduate of Phoenix College Dental Assisting Program. She also holds an Associates Degree in Science. Brittany also has certifications in Radiography, Coronal Polishing and Infection Control Procedures. Working in the dental field for the past two years Brittany really enjoys interacting with the children and parents at Pleasant Pediatric Dentistry.
She enjoys the friendly atmosphere of the office and making children feel at ease during their dental appointments. Brittany also has experience working to help children at a tutoring center. In her free time, she participates in running and other outdoor activities with her family as well as watching a good baseball game.
