Dr. Gregory Whelan is Board Certified in Pediatric Dentistry. Prior to opening Pleasant Pediatric Dentistry, Colonel Whelan served for 21 years in the US Public Health Service, assigned to the Indian Health Service.
Dr. Whelan graduated from St. Louis University and received his dental degree from Southern Illinois University - School of Dental Medicine. He completed his Pediatric dental residency, as Chief Resident, at the University of Nebraska, Omaha. Dr. Whelan's passions include ensuring the provision of the highest quality pediatric dental care to his patients and assisting with the implementations of 'best practices' throughout his profession.
Dr. Whelan, his wife, and three children are happy to call Peoria home. Dr. Whelan enjoys spending his free time camping and hiking with his family.
Kendal - Office Manager
Kendal has been working in the dentistry field for over 12 years! She is the office manager at Pleasant Pediatric Dentistry, and absolutely loves being able to work with children every day.
Kendal takes care of all the paperwork in the office, and makes sure that everything is staying on schedule. She has expertise in financial services, as well as dealing with patient's insurance needs. She also has a certification in CPR, and is a lifeguard and swim instructor.
Kendal has been married to her husband, Mike, for 30 years and together they have a 5-year-old son. She loves spending time with her family and traveling to new destinations!
Heather - Dental Assistant
Heather joined our office in the autumn of 2010. She has been a pediatric dental assistant for 15 years, and is excellent. Heather is CPR certified and holds certification for coronal polishing as well as taking X-rays. She says she "enjoys my job and finds it very rewarding. Especially when a fearful child leaves the office with a smile on their face and anxious to return for their next appointment."
Heather is married and has 2 beautiful children, a son Carson, who 11 yrs old; and a daughter Miley, who is 4 yrs old.
Kara Dental Assistant
Kara is a graduate from the Dental Assisting program at Arizona College of Allied Health. She has been working in the dentistry field for over 3 years now. Kara has her certification in CPR, coronal polishing, and x-rays.
Kara loves everyone she works with at Pleasant Pediatric Dentistry, and feels like they are all extended members of her own family. She also enjoys working with kids and educating them about good oral health at an early age.
In her free time, Kara likes spending time with her dogs, Ace and King, and her two adorable sugar gliders. She also loves traveling.
Courtney Dental Assistant
Courtney is a 2010 graduate from Phoenix College. She has been working at our office for over a year now. She is certified in CPR, coronal polishing and taking x-rays.
Courtney loves being able to work with kids and says that, they can turn any bad day into a great day! She loves working with everyone at Pleasant Pediatric Dentistry, and feels like they are one big family. Courtney is recently engaged, loves hanging out with her friends and family. In her free time, she also enjoys spending time outdoors, shopping, and spending time with her puppy.
Valarie Front Desk/Reception
Valerie has been working in the dentistry field for about a year now. She received her certificate for Medical Billing and Coding from Bryman College. She receives dentistry training through working here at Pleasant Pediatric Dentistry, where she works at the front desk, helping people check in and check out, and more.
Valerie loves interacting with the kids and helping to put their nerves at ease before they go back to see the doctor and assistants. She loves working for such a great dentist and with such an amazing dental staff.
Valerie enjoys spending quality time with her nieces and nephews, and hanging out with the rest of her family. She also loves traveling with friends and family to any beach destination!
Emily Front Desk/Reception
Since she was about 12-years-old, Emily has been working with kids. Whether through babysitting or working at a day care, she has many years of practice of interacting with children. Emily has been part of the Pleasant Pediatric Dentistry team for over a year, and truly enjoys getting to help all of our young patients.
Emily loves the atmosphere at Pleasant Pediatric Dentistry, and helping patients and their parents feel at ease during their appointment. She finds it very rewarding to be able to see each child leave with a bright smile.
Emily enjoys spending time with her husband and friends. She looks forward to the day when she starts her own family.
